This excellent dive spot is only 25 minutes North of Ottawa, a short drive through the scenic hilly vistas of Quebec and you can also bungee jump here too.

Mrs. Morrison and her sons run this quarry, hence the name. It costs $10 to park and dive/swim/bbq/chill out at the quarry and anyone can go but if you dive you need your FUQS Quebec Dive permit, found at Sharkys Scuba supply in Ottawa.

We only dove to around 50-60 as it got to around 62 F and I did not have proper protection - mistake on my part as I did not expect it to be that cold. Did not have a hood or proper boots on so swam around 50 feet.

Vis was anywhere from 20-30 feet, the best all summer. Saw a pike, which is near the end of the video. Very random in a limestone quarry but maybe they thrive in that environment, what do I know.

Awesome dive, will go back. 03:12

Sea Snakes and Sea Turtles. Part 20 of my DVD, "Reef Life of the Andaman", available at http://www.bubblevision.com/marine-life-DVD.htm

In this video we look at the 3 most common marine reptiles in the Andaman Sea. First we meet the banded sea krait, Laticauda colubrina, a type of sea snake, hunting for prey at Shark Cave in the Mergui Archipelago in Burma (Myanmar), and in and around the Similan Islands in the Andaman Sea of Thailand. The banded sea krait's venom is extremely poisonous but they usually ignore scuba divers and their mouths are very small.

There are two common types of sea turtle to be found in the Andaman Sea. First we encounter the hawsbill turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, which can be found on many dive sites in Thailand and Burma. Then in the Similan Islands we find the green turtle, Chelonia mydas. Turtles have a wide-ranging diet that includes cnidarians such as jellyfish and coral polyps. Sadly many sea turtles die by choking on or being poisoned by man-made debris such as plastic bags which they mistake as food.

At Donald Duck Bay in the Similan Islands, we witness snorkellers hand-feeding one of the green turtles which hang around moored boats in search of food.

As reptiles, both sea snakes and sea turtles must surface to breathe regularly before returning to the sea bed to hunt or rest.

The full narration is available as English, German or Spanish subtitles by turning on the closed captions (CC). There are also closed captions available showing scientific and common names of the marine life in English, German or Dutch, along with dive site names.

"Reef Life of the Andaman" is being serialised weekly on YouTube. Please subscribe to my channel to receive notifications of new episodes as I release them. The series features descriptions of 213 different marine species including more than 100 tropical fish, along with sharks, rays, moray eels, crabs, lobsters, shrimps, sea slugs, cuttlefish, squid, octopus, turtles, sea snakes, starfish, sea cucumbers, corals, worms etc..

The video was shot by Nick Hope with a Sony VX2000 DV camera in a Gates housing. It was edited in Sony Vegas Pro then deinterlaced with QTGMC and upscaled to 720p HD in AviSynth.

Thanks to Santana Diving of Phuket (http://www.santanaphuket.com), to Daniel Bruehwiler and Elfi and Uli Erfort for the German translation, and to Frank Nelissen for the Dutch subtitles.

[ Informazioni ] Wannadive is safe! Hi, Firefox and Chrome users may experiment some difficulties in accessing Wannadive with their web browser. An ugly screen is telling Wannadive could provide malwares and not be safe!... Our ad server has been attacked Sept 15, and we did fix the problem a couple of hours later. Wannadive is now 100% safe. What still happen? Firefox and Google uses a database to track websites where malwares were detected. We ask Google to remove Wannadive from this database but it can takes a few hours/days? :-( Waiting for Google update, you can use a different web browser to access your favorite dive site atlas and community: Internet Explorer or Opera. Those browsers don\'t check Google\'s database. All the best, Wannadive team
